Starry River of the Sky by Grace Lin

5.0

A beautiful, detailed book. A hundred stories within a story that teaches us forgiveness. I absolutely loved Where the Moon Meets the Mountain, and Linn delivers a book with the magical same feeling, but a whole new experience. Our main character is at first a grumpy little boy, who is hard to like but we still have a soft spot for. As he spends time at the seemingly “cursed” inn he meets a variety of even more lovable characters that share stories and solve each other’s problems. As an educator, while reading this I thought it would be perfect to teach mythology and Chinese culture to younger students, an ideal chapter book for strong readers in grades 4-7, and a great addition to any teacher or parent’s bookshelf. The author’s note at the end is not to be skipped ✨
