Sharpe's Rifles by Bernard Cornwell
4.0

I really enjoy this series. The books are consistent and in an easy to track timeline. Cornwell delivers fast paced excitement with rarely a dull moment. In Rifles, Sharpe really comes into his own as a validated leader and it’s great to see his men come together under his leadership after a rocky start. Through the Spanish hills taking an advanced trail of the Pilgrims way to the hallowed church of Santiago de Compostela, we are on an adventure to perform a miracle to expel Napoleon’s army back to France. Cornwell paints a vivid picture of war during the time frame and the gritty nature of fighting in the medieval streets when you have everything to lose.
