First Impressions of You by Gabriela Graciosa Guedes

3.5 ⭐️
I loved the world of movieland that the author created and did well capturing the competitiveness of the entertainment industry. I liked the way she gave insight to an actors process of becoming a character and auditioning for roles.
Luiza connection to her family and culture was a component I really liked and accentuated her very real fear of being sent away from the US unable to pursue her dream. I love the elements of Brazilian culture that were incorporated.
I didn’t fully believe in winters love-at-first-sight admiration of Luiza and didn’t care for the miscommunication early in the book between them. It was very frustrating and didn’t make sense. Despite learning more about winter as the book went on, his character felt very flat to me. I don’t know if it is because we only get Luiza‘s POV, but I felt like his character wasn’t very believable. At times I also felt like their interactions were a little immature for a couple that is 26 and 29 years old.
Overall, this book was OK!
