Donut the Destroyer, Volume 1 by Sarah Graley, Stef Purenins

5.0

I really enjoyed this graphic novel as it tacled friendship, being yourself, and being good. With kids, there's always a pressure to feel included, which often overlaps with acting out, and I thought this really tackled this well. I also really enjoyed the support of the villain parents, which was refreshing as middle grade fiction tends to leave them out to focus on the kids or protrays them as bad parents. So even though they were evil, their love for Donut being theirself really stood out to me. The superheo and villains concepts were erally neat and the art style was awesome, reminscient of Gravity Falls and Steven Universe. There's room for spinoff material and I would absolutely read it.
