An incredibly strong debut collection from Akbar, Calling a Wolf a Wolf is lacerating in its hungry demands of the reader as a witness yet incredibly beautiful and generous in what it ultimately gives. This speaks to how masterfully Akbar constructs his poems, in that there is something incredibly existential in this collection about addiction. A treat to read.
