A Restless Truth by Freya Marske
3.0
This was so disappointing ðŸ˜
I thoroughly enjoyed A Marvellous Light and was so excited to get to this, despite hearing mixed things. While the beginning was enjoyable and it had some fun moments, overall it was lacking. A Restless Truth is set on a long haul ship from America to England, with multiple different levels, rooms and other places to explore, yet we barely see any of it. I also struggled with the characters a bit, while I enjoyed Maud in the previous book and at the beginning of this one, I felt she fell flat by the end, same with Violet. I think Marske struggles to write good sapphic or even female characters, as they just came across so flat and not quite real in some ways?
As much as I was disappointed by this, I will pick up the next book because I want to see how this all ends. Especially since it follows two of my favourite characters from The Restless Truth.
