Lords of Uncreation is the epic conclusion of Adrian Tchaikovsky’s space opera trilogy, The Final Architecture. Armed with a powerful device that allows them to peer into the depth of unspace, Idris and his fellows look to take the fight to the Architects before life as they know it is wiped from the face of reality.

“It is the penance of the fallen god to stare into the void and there to strive with all the horrors of the vastly deep.”

This book really came through where the middle book left me feeling a little let down. The ensemble cast all have their moments to shine here and some of the dialogue with Olli in particular got me laughing out lout. Olli is maybe my favorite character in this book, which is a surprise considering she was so unlikable in the first book and I felt pretty bleh about her in the second. I loved all of them in the end and it was a fitting conclusion. My only real critique here is that the middle portion felt a little bloated with a maybe unnecessary plot line meant to add friction between the alliances of the different factions but it was still entertaining. I found one or two minor mistakes but otherwise the prose is Tchaikovsky’s usual solid quality.

“This is fucked up,” Ollie sent to Kit.
“There is no further up to which it might be fucked,” was his considered reply.

Olli is often a rough around the edges, mouth like a sailor type so this like from one of the Essiel aliens really got me:

“O least regarded of the Razor’s brood, O speaker of the curses, She who Scowls, who brooks no barrier ’twixt her and her desires, and she whom mere nature can’t suffice.”

Overall I really liked this series and would definitely recommend. This book, especially the final act really worked for me. 4.25/5.
