There are so many hidden meanings, hidden themes, in this book. Futuristic advances seem fun and beneficial initially, but they will be our downfall. The world isn't meant to be controlled by technology and humans. Loss. Love. Lonliness. Family, or the lackthereof. Control. Resistance.

Violet is strong-willed, never wanting to be controlled by anyone, not even her feed. She wants to resist, but resisting may get her killed.

Titus is..just average. He didn't stand out to me until the end, when he became a total dick, and I just wanted to scream that at him. He betrayed. He changed. He failed.

Although the story is written from Titus' perspective, the story more closely follows Violet.

The whole concept of the times they live in now is super weird. Lesions are cool? The weird styles? "Meg"? Parts of it made me cringe, but it's supposed to. You're supposed to cringe at how weird and embarrassing their trends are due to the stupid technology they're living with. Again, technology will do weird shit to us if we rely on it too much. That's a huge theme throughout the book.

The reason I give four stars is because I wasn't totally clear on every technological invention that was mentioned. For a little bit, the whole idea of feed was confusing. Upcars, droptubes, how chatting works. I have a slight grasp on it, enough to comprehend the story, but I wish it would've gone into deeper detail about them.

Honestly a super fun and quick read, very insightful and makes you reflect. This is a book you'll think about for a long time after finishing it.
