The Next 365 Days: A Novel
by Blanka Lipińska
I wondered why the 3rd book had lower reviews than the first two and now I know why. I understand the sentiment she tried to convey in the authors note, but honestly it feels like BS. We fall in love with Massimo over two books, and then we’re supposed to fall in love with someone else in like half a book?
That’s just lazy writing. Where was any character development?? I kept waiting for Massimo and Laura’s character development, or at least for some big reveal like it was Massimo’s evil twin who did all the terrible things after New Years. Absolutely wild for the author to say Laura is stupid for falling for Massimo, and criticizing readers for doing the same. Why else would readers buy three books if not to follow their story that we fell in love with?
I just can’t get over how the story up to half way through the third book was set up perfectly for there to be incredible character development with the MMC and FMC. She was so fucking close with having Massimo make Laura keep her company so she wouldn’t be financially reliant on Nacho. Clearly she was capable of having Massimo reflect on the situation and do right by Laura. But no! Lazy writing making Laura meet a ‘gentler’ version of Massimo and quickly falling for him instead. Yeah sure
