The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

i really loved this book. it was written beautifully.

i saw luc as a metaphor for depression, for suicide. that no matter how much the darkness whispers in your ear and how much it lies and takes from you, happiness is always possible. maybe i'm just a sucker for concrete endings, but i've never liked *wink wink* endings. ones where you're on the precipice of resolve, but the protag just winks at the camera and walks off screen. to me, there's no completion to that. but, all is poetry, i guess.

and i know the whole point of the story is that it never ends and that she's immortal, but wouldn't it be cool to see her end? to see it wrapped up? i guess that's what i've been taught to expect from stories, so this divergence from the normal isn't inherently negative, just something i'm not used to.

but overall, a very sweet story. i wish it ended.
