saeruh 's review for:
Daughter of Fortune
by Isabel Allende
inspiring
reflective
slow-paced
Read for my WGSS Literature by Women of Color class. This was very slow, even meandering at times, and there was no “big” moment of fast, engaging action even by the end of the novel, yet I was captivated by Allende’s writing style and the particular diction she used (or the English translator used). Loved how much I learned about the Gold Rush in San Francisco that happened in the late 1840s. I read most of this via kindle unlimited but I listened to almost a third of the audiobook during the middle of the book lol.
