The first chapter is really emotional as the straw hats are in way over their heads in the battle.
When Luffy is separated from the rest of the crew in the aftermath of the battle the tone shifts quickly to more lighthearted and funny. And while I do enjoy the new cast of characters, mainly having a somewhat diverse set of women, I wanted more of the emotions and found the story line to be a bit shallow.
Not my favorite volume, but it touched on a lot of plot points and powers that will be important later in the series.
