The Midnight Library
by Matt Haig
This is a novel that starts out with a depressing overtone. When life crumbles and you feel as though no one needs you or loves you anymore, where do you turn? That is the beginning of this book. We come into a story that is already at its tragic end. Suicide seems to be the only option to finally be rid of the pain and get out of everyone's way.
When our main character wakes up in a library, she's told she can live any of the lives that she didn't get to. Each decision created a branch, and she is able to go back and explore each branch as far as she desires.
A book about love, loss, mental health, and the never-ending challenge that is our lives. This has earned its spot on my favorites list. By far an amazing read.
Coming from someone with mental health and suicidal ideations, it actually has a very hopeful and true-to-life feeling. I can say that I finished it in less than 24 hours and I would absolutely read it again in a heartbeat.
