Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

Did not finish book. Stopped at 45%.
I made it 45% through, and I really cannot take anymore. Right from the beginning the writing reminds me of a teenager trying to be "not like other teens" and quirky.

I thought this book was going to talk about, well, anxious people, but instead we end up with these completely unrealistic charicatures of sterotypes that just make the voice of everyone extremely annoying. Every character talks to the others as if they have never interacted with another person in their life. I found the dialogue mind-boggling, and completely unbelievable, especially when it's iterated over and over again how it's a small town where everyone knows each other.

That's another issue; this book is repetitive. It could easily be half the size, but we have to be told that a man tried to rob a bank, and then took hostages instead over and over and over again. It's just too much for me.

I do not find this book humorous or charming. I understand that there's an underlying message here, but having the characters just yell, "You're an idiot!" at each other for pages on end just doesn't do it for me.
