The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
4.0

I read this without the accompanying tape (haven't got a player handy). Originally this was released with the songs from the 1939 film back in the late 1960s. It was followed by three follow up Disney book-and-record sets.
What makes these adaptations important are they recycle music and character models from various aborted attempts to adapt the Oz series by the studio in both animation and live action.
Disney would not get an actual Oz production out the gate until 1985's 'Return to Oz' (probably the most faithful adaptation the books will ever see).
This particular book is a break neck adaptation of Baum's basic plot, retaining interestingly enough 2 of the Witch's attacks against Dorothy and her friends are present, as well her torture of them.
