He embedded himself into my heart and I sewed my name across his limbs. When it comes to me and him, one cannot exist without the other.
WEW! This book was a whole jumble of mess, and this review will be just that as well.
I know a lot of people consider them to be real siblings since they literally grew up together as kids. Incest disgusts me in real life, but within the realm of fiction, I'm weirdly open about anything, really. This didn't bother me as much as the sexual abuse did. It was so fucked up that I was swept up by emotions. I've read enough dark romances and eroticas with females who were sexually abused, but this one just hit me in the wrong spot for some reason. I will forever be traumatized by that threesome scene.
Royce and Jade's chemistry was there—very intense—but it disappeared after the time skip. It felt as though their relationship was forced from then onwards. And although toxic men are my guilty pleasure (just in books, okay?!), Royce's kind of toxicity was not my type at all. I mean, I want the ML obsessed with our FL, not someone who sticks his dick in any pussy, WTF?
But I did enjoy it, enough for my finger to just hover over the DNF button. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it wasn't great either. I spent most of my time wondering what the hell was happening, but I wanted Jade to succeed and get her revenge on her abuser, so I thankfully managed to pull through to the end.
Also, I could see the plot twists from a mile away. I had to close my eyes and go blind just to pretend that I couldn't because that would ruin all the fun. And I think this book needs another round of editing, seriously. The missing dialogue tags, periods at the end, and the lack of proper paragraphing hurt so bad.
