georgewbscott 's review for:
A Time for Mercy
by John Grisham
The book begins with a brutal and abusive first scene, which almost made me put it down.
The story line was interesting and educational, but again more brutal scenes followed. Then the main character, Jake, does something out of character and that kind of lost the book for me. Later another element of the plot did not make common sense.
This feels like a book that the author decided t0 finish up quickly. He states in the Author's Note at the end that he began the story five years earlier, and it appears to be quickly finished it to get it into print. Not his best work.
