SCREAMING AND CRYING!!! Had a bit of trouble getting into the story at first but once I did omfg what a ride! The amount of willpower Evelyn has in her pinky alone is mind-blowing, a true powerhouse, such a complex woman and the antihero of her very own story, what's not to admire of her. Truly an unforgettable character. Oh, and the writing, god, the writing. The perfect balance between fiction and real life; the historical context, threaded with such care with the events of the story, got me teary-eyed at times. What a way to deliver such a powerful message. The whole book is a reminder that, while the characters are fictional, this could've been the story of one too many people and I think it's there, in that humanity, in that heart wrenching reality, that 7HOEH truly touches and sticks with us.
