The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks
4.5
Believe me when I say that I'm not a fan of the phrase "inviting you into their world", but here I feel there is no better descriptor.
Banks' remarkable debut is riddled with impossibly clever passages, incredibly vivid imagery and the most baffling depictions of horror. Not once does the reader feel detached from the sick mind of Frank Cauldhame in any way - his every move is explored in quick-fashioned yet intricate detail.
An all-encompassing sensory read.
