The Will of the Many
by James Islington
adventurous
mysterious
tense
slow-paced
Parts of this book were definitely 5 star worthy, but other parts just weren't. I did really enjoy the last 20% or so, when all the pieces finally started coming together. But also, it took FOREVER to get there. Ultimately, very well thought out, incredibly detailed, and occasionally super fast paced for about a chapter or two, but there were so many long, dry stretches in-between. I felt like I had to really work for the final payoff and then ended up with a massive cliffhanger at the end. Social and political commentary was super well done though. Felt like dystopian/sci-fi vibes in a fantasy setting and I enjoyed that this book doesn't really fit into any standard genre boxes or overdone cliches.
