This is a The Watch book, and in his Watch books, Pratchett is always on his most political or sociological. In this book, some seemingly unrelated crimes get investigated, and like in any detective, these turn out to be related.
While this is going on, Pratchett shares his cynical worldview and touches on topics like identity and daring to embrace your true self, but also on capitalist exploitation, slavery and even artificial intelligence. For a book written in 1996, this feels very relevant still.
I liked the audio, but some of the accents were very hard to understand for a not native speaker like me.
