Caught in the Flames

...... I wish I didn't read this in all honesty.
I don't even know what to say.
Callie was probably one of my least favourite characters I've ever read. She was so annoying? at first? Like I just couldn't stand her way of thinking. I read the synopsis of this book and was like dope, a book about a woman who loves hot firefighters, same girl. But the more I read into this and the further I got into the story, the more she pissed me off. She had 0 backbone until she was forced to have one, she was dropping "love" like nobody's business when she and Chase hadn't even been dating for long? and she jumped to conclusions SO OFTEN. Literally, three of my least favourite characteristics in a character and she nailed them one by one. So... sorry Callie, but even by the end, you pissed me off.
Next, I hated the structure of this. Chase was irrelevant. Honest to god, his storyline was actually pointless. When Ash is introduced at the halfway point pretty much, I thought... no. He's just a distraction. There's no way this will shift. BUT LOW AND BEHOLD... IT SHIFTED. And once again we found ourselves in a repeat cycle of what happened with Chase. I didn't like it the first time, I sure as shit didn't like it the second time.
I have a problem with characters who don't speak up for themselves. I really just hate that Callie sat there and cried about all of her problems and did nothing about it. You don't have to confront anyone... but this girl just cried her life away when shit went down. It drove me up the wall. ALSO, ARE WE GOING TO JUST IGNORE WHAT TIFF DID TO ALICIA?
I can't keep talking about this. I'm actually mad that I didn't like this because I was on such a roll with great romance reads. This let me down so hard.... UGGH
I'M SO MAD.
IT'S NOT EVEN A BIG DEAL BUT LIKE UGGHHHHH SO MAD.
Anyways, I'm done yelling. I'm going to go. The take home from this is that the main character is annoying, there's a character that serves no real purpose really... like what he offers could just be rewritten into other characters, there's insta-love, and honestly, I felt like things were missing that would've made things clearer or something?
I don't even know what to say.
