The Aeronaut's Windlass by Jim Butcher
5.0

This book was a complete (and delightful) surprise. I chose to read this book because I like Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden series of books. A cross of fantasy, science fiction and adventure (steampunk), this book has an interesting set of characters, a fast moving and unpredictable plot and very nice writing. Although the volume is fairly long, it does move fast - it is a little slow in the beginning when the characters are being introduced in a diverse set of scenes. However, they all eventually converge into one story. The book ends and seems to indicate a follow up story coming. I would be interested to see more from these characters. This book was written in 2015 - however on Jim Butcher's web sites it indicates that he would write the next book after the Dresden book Peace Talks, which was recently released.
