classic, I think the point that dystopian books like this make these days is fairly obvious, but this one is one of the classics and is so well written that it's okay.
He does a really great job worldbuilding, which I imagine is pretty difficult to do. Interesting that I felt like there was a lot of telling and not showing, like when he goes to O'Brien's apartment to pick up the book. Sometimes it felt really abrupt, maybe some more subtlety would be good? But also maybe it's done intentionally, something something contrast with the Party. He also writes so well that it's not that jarring.
But yeah classic themes good stuff.
