My Unscripted Life by Lauren Morrill

3.0

First, thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC!

I was so excited to get approved for this one, because Lauren Morrill is a) a delightful human being, as indicated by her Twitter, and b) can always be counted on for a super cute YA contemp. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed at this one. I'm going to put my thoughts under a cut because they're most spoilery.

Spoiler
NOPE NOPITY NOPE to instalove. I can't handle it. I get that's the crux of the story, that he's just in town for a short period of time and the story has to move fast, but it was totally implausible. They kiss TWICE and suddenly Dee thinks they're dating. Sister, no.

Not to mention, she already has this vision of what their relationship would be before they even met. That's just super creepy and too perfect of a set up.

And then he moves there to be with her? Dude, she's a senior in high school. She needs to live her life and get through high school before she's saddled with a boyfriend with his own fancy estate.

Also, from his description of his career, I only saw Justin Bieber as Milo, which grossed me out.

I'm going to continue to read anything Lauren Morrill writes, because she's mostly winners with me, but this one definitely didn't do it for me.
