October, October
by Katya Balen
October lived in the woods with her father. When she turned eleven, she found a baby owl she called Stig, his father fell from a big tree, and a woman who is her mother came and took everything from her.
Lived in a woods for all her life, October couldn't adapt when she had to live in London. The crowds, the sounds, the scenery, and the sky isn't right for her and it annoys her. She didn't utter a sound as well, and people in her new school assumed that she only speaks wolf.
October can be annoying. But she has her own reason. And she needs people who understand her. She needs an easy going friend like Yusuf and an adult like Kate, and I'm glad she found them. Changes need time and the support from the right people.
This book is not something I usually found. The writing style is unique, where there's no single direct conversation. And I like how consistent October called her mum 'the woman who is my mother'.
When I first started the book, I kept saying that all of those trouble wouldn't happen if not for those stubborn parents. But along with time, I started to see things from different perspectives and I like what I saw.
