The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

5.0

what a joy it is to read a book so lovely and heart wrenching!

you know i love a romance book with grief and this is definitely top shelf stuff. clementine's relationship w her aunt and her grief in the wake of her sudden death are so sharp and aching, the can't bear to look at it kind of grief. a little too close kind of grief, and that in itself was cathartic as hell.

i loved everything about this book, i thought the time slipping was done tastefully, i was worried that it would be a one sided slip but i liked the equal balance in their knowledge of each other. getting to learn and meet iwan in each time period was so lovely and also heart wrenching until the end. this book is like, primo slowburn angst with a happy ending. i have surprisingly little to say in review of this book considering how much i liked it, but maybe that's just bc i'm unusually satisfied by it. this is definitely i think top 3 of my favourite romance books this year.
