Emmerson and Taylor were best friends from 12 years old until they were seniors in high school, and finally admitted they felt more for each other. They make things official and continue their relationship into college. When Taylor gets his big break into the NHL, Emmerson is conflicted about what it means for their future.
Outside sources interfere and get in her head, and Emmerson ultimately decides to leave Taylor so he can go for all his dreams without feeling like she's tying him down. She breaks her heart and his with the selfless decision she thought was best for him.
