The Body Is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love by Sonya Renee Taylor

5.0

This was a recommendation and it’s great. I really like Sonya’s view of addressing body politics and insecurities. She’s not afraid to tell you to get uncomfortable to get to a better place. I think there’s a huge amount of optimism in this book that works so much better than the ‘good vibes only’ line of thinking. This is about finding what works for you and doing it. She has some good advice here but it comes at a cost—you’ve got to come to terms with what brought you here in the first place.

I listened to the audiobook and as much as I liked hearing how Sonya narrates her own book, I realized that an ebook or print book version would have been a better idea simply because that gives you the opportunity to sit and pause and do the assignments and unapologetic inquiries. I didn’t allow myself to get the full experience of this book with the audiobook.

Pick this up if you want to feel better about yourself.
