Starry River of the Sky by Grace Lin

5.0

A companion book to Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, but also a stand alone story. I read this book in under 4 hrs. The print is big and there are pictures to complement the story along the way. It’s a lovely “fantasy inspired by Chinese folktales” book.

This book is about Rendi, an upper elementary (?) aged boy who is found stowed away on a merchant’s trailer and left with an innkeeper. The book follows 3 story lines: Renli, short stories Renli tells about Magistrate Tiger, and short stories Madame Chang tells about Lady Moon.

The book concludes with multiple reunions and forgiveness. The whole book was just lovely.
