Fable for the End of the World follows Inesa, a girl living in a flooded and poor town who have the option to get into debt to a company (not unlike Amazon) as much as they want. But, when they hit a threshold they can clear the debt fully by offering a sacrifice from their family to the Lamb's Gauntlet. Where cybernetic assassins like Melinoe hunt them live for the entertainment of fans.

I'd give this book 6 stars easily. One of my favorite books this year. This book book is the perfect book for anyone who loved the Hunger Games when they were a teen but also wants something that's a little more modern and also maybe gay? This really gets into climate change and capitalism's impacts on the environment and the people that live in it. It also has some really cool tech that feels not so distant future. And some amazing sapphic romance vibes. But, this book is YA so things do not get spicy.

Cool robots, mental health rep, sick world building, and truly incredible writing. If you like dystopian books, please read this book.

Warnings on the romance for people who want them
this book does not have a happy ending
