Things from the Flood by Simon Stålenhag

3.0

As always, a very addictive story accompanied by beautiful art that keeps you turning pages. Rating low only because it was not as good as his more recent book “The Electric State,” which I unfortunately read first, so I was expecting this to be on par with Electric States’ storyline.

For the most part, he kept to his recipe of incredible environmental story telling, paired with disturbing anecdotes, which introduce you to this post-“Tales from the Loop” world.

However I was slightly disappointed that the mysterious character featured on the cover is a very fleeting plot point of the book, and not a main character. I was very intrigued by them, and hope the “Nomads” feature more heavily in future projects.

Still very enjoyable, though I now know I have an order I’d recommend the books be read in to avoid the same disappointment.
