The Times I Knew I Was Gay by Eleanor Crewes

reflective medium-paced

3.5

I felt a bit mixed on this book, but overall it was a fun read. I loved reading about Ellie's love of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Overall, the book felt a little insubstantial because every page was a single pannel and many of the pannels didn't offer very much at once. It might have been nice to see multiple pannels per page instead. The book also felt a little dismissive of ace/aro/bi identities, but I don't think that was the author's intent and I don't think she blatantly stated anything of the sort, she probably just didn't have any thoughts of those being a possibility as she explored her own experiences.

๐Ÿ“š The gist ๐Ÿ“š: For Ellie, exploring her sexuality was a long, slow process of figuring out her needs and wants while navigating the intricacies of fitting in with the people around her.

๐Ÿ“’Representation๐Ÿ“’: LGBTQ, lesbian, not confirming to gender roles

๐Ÿ’• For readers looking for ๐Ÿ’•: a graphic memoir, questions about sexuality, one woman's experience discovering her sexuality, humorous situations, fun art style
