The Duelist's Seduction by Lauren Smith

4.0

*I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is a short and steamy romance. I loved that it started with the duel and had just enough backstory to explain things. The bargain is very shocking for everyone that knows about it, but it plays out nicely. I did love how they were instantly connected and I loved the ending.

Helen is great and brave. She wasn't just looking out for her brother when she decided to take his place but was looking out for herself too. She never backed down and keep quiet when scared or mad. I loved how she stormed out near the end and how she kept her brother from the duel.

Gareth is a broken man that needs love again. At first, he came off as mean and a bit cruel, but as soon as he was back at his home he changed. He had changed after his wife died but wasn't as he seemed and his housekeeper knew it and could tell what would happen. I loved how quickly he opened up and when he told her brother what he thought.

It was short, but the pace was good.
