Bloom by Kenneth Oppel

5.0

A freaky premise : the world's food supply and the health of all humans is threatened by invasive new plant species. And it just gets weirder. I love that the adults in the book don't shy away from using technical and scientific terminology. Serious vibes of [b:The Day of the Triffids|530965|The Day of the Triffids|John Wyndham|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320530145l/530965._SY75_.jpg|188517] and [b:The Girl with All the Gifts|17235026|The Girl with All the Gifts (The Girl with All the Gifts, #1)|M.R. I usually hate cliffhangers, but this one is just so good. It helps that the whole series is already available.
