The Rosie Effect
by Graeme Simsion
Well, I guess no-one needs to pretend not knowing what sort of bombshell life drops on poor Don Tillman in this sequence to The Rosie Project. Anyone can have a pretty good idea and I can tell you that what you are thinking is probably right. But to keep the review spoiler-free, I won't actually write what it is.
As to the book itself, I was rather excited to continue my acquaintance with the two main characters, but on some level ended up a bit disappointed. Yes, it is still Don Tillman for whom the world is one big challenge and awkward situations pop-up constantly... but at some point in the book I felt that things are being overcomplicated even for Don. For me the story just started loosing some components of credibility. I don't know if the author decided to go all out in all American style (I know, I'm being stereotypical right now... but this is what Hollywood movies make us believe) with crazy and impossible things leading to rather cheesy ending. But by no means it isn't a bad book, it just in my opinion didn't live up to the expectations and standard set by the first one. Still a good read ;)
