Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
4.0

Really interesting and feels comprehensive, with a bunch of well rounded characters that pull you through the shifting locations and themes. However, Adiche too often slips into essay, and there are large swathes that are either (directly) an essay or (indirectly) moments in the plot that allow for a two page conversation on its implications - it’s nice to have a novel that is so brazen with its politics, but it is far from subtle and offers the reader very little room to explore themes or join the conversation
