The Second Story
by Neil Patrick Harris
The Magic Misfits is back with a new adventure! Leila and her friends have been going about their usual routine for around six months now. Practice magic learn new magic, all that fun stuff. But one day, a famous psychic comes into town and flips Leila’s world upside down. Every one of her friends is suspicious of the psychic Sandra Santos, but Leila refuses to doubt this brilliant woman. But who should she trust, her beliefs or her friends? Not to mention, the frown clowns are still on the loose…
This sequel will definitely keep readers intrigued in The Magic Misfits stories. There is a lot of expansion on character development (mostly for Leila), and there are a lot more secrets and pasts revealed in this book. While this book is still for younger readers (elementary to middle school), it was a little more advanced than the first book. It also shows more reactions of characters dealing with stressful situations and having friends to remind them that everything will be okay and that they’re there for each other. All of the misfits are great role models on what good friends do for each other, and that sends a powerful message.
