a middle-aged man with a reputation for preying on vulnerable girls - mostly from minoritised background - dies mysteriously, and Mia P. Manansala stitches together a perfectly serviceable, cozy, and diverse story around his death. what the plot lacks in complexity is mostly compensated by its heart; the characters continue to do wildly frustrating things like - no exaggeration - getting drunk on sangria slushies after happening upon a dead body and singing karaoke when they are under suspicion for homicide, yet we continue to root for them and cheer them on. 🍨
