The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

emotional reflective fast-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes

5.0

TJR has outdone herself once again. Is it possible to love an author this much despite giving you characters that make you question if it's right to love them if they were real? Because I felt exactly what Monique did for Evelyn. I didn't like her, but I very much loved her at the same time. She actually reminded me a lot of my all-time favorite, Scarlett O'Hara, who's inarguably a detestable character. Both were selfish and ambitious, but both also displayed the most authenticity than your typical martyr female protagonist.

Wise title. Great book. Brilliant author. Iconic character. Taylor's Evelyn may not have truly existed, but everyone who knows her - myself included - will forever remember her as an incomparable star. I want more books like this so badly!!!
