Tame the Heart by Ava Hunter
5.0

OMG I absolutely loved this cowboy romance!!

"You're mine, Sunflower."
"And your mine, Cowboy."

I had read book 2 ("Rope the Moon") first, so I knew going into this one that eventually Ruby has Charlie wrapped around her finger. But it was so sweet reading how that unfolded.

This is 100% the definition of grumpy x sunshine. Charlie is a bit emotionally broken; still dealing with living with heavy grief. While it's been ten years since his loss, his battle to overcome that overwhelming heartache has been hard fought. I love that his brothers came to his aid and surrounded him with support and a little tough love. Having been hardened by grief and now putting all of his energy into the ranch he owns; he has little time for thoughts of love. That is until sunshine in a dress walks through the door.

Ruby is literally sunshine personified. Having grown up with a severe health condition and heavily sheltered by her dad and brother, she is all about finding the good in life and trying to life the most every single day, because she never knows when it'll be her last. I love her outlook on life and the journey she takes to find adventure which then eventually leads her to Runaway Ranch and her cowboy.

"Honor your heart until you become it."

Ruby's personality immediately gets the attention of stern and serious cowboy, Charlie Montgomery. I love how even when he wanted to put distance between himself and her, Charlie couldn't deny how strong the pull was to just be near her because her joy and smile was infectious.

Through their forced proximity and time getting to know each other, their connection grew. & with it, the steam!!! Charlie may be a grump to others, but he soon becomes as sweet as apple pie and as hot as a jalapeno to Ruby. His dirty talk was delicious and the way he made sure to go slow and prioritize Ruby's comfort and desires was precious.

"I want your eyes on me. I want you to see how fucking bad you own me."

Overall - I loved their connection, the brothers' relationships, Ruby standing up to grumpy Charlie, Charlie being super protective and possessive, their nicknames for each other, the arc of love after loss, and how much both Ruby and Charlie came to love one another and realize love was worth the risk and that they are meant to be.

I really cannot list a single negative thing about this book from my personal opinion and highly recommend it to all cowboy, small town romance lovers - especially if you love the grumpy x sunshine and emotional healing tropes.
