Sarah & I are not nerds about the same thing. But I recognize the impulse in her, and it flatters my own nerdiness.
She's hilarious at putting the right example in for explanation, expansion of an idea, or making it stick**.
And, as a great writer, she has a way of making her affection for her subject infectious.
I laughed a lot reading this collection, and look forward to reading her other works.
** the essay, "The Nerd Voice, Pt: Nerds vs Jocks" is an amazing example of her ability to swirl two things together for awesome effect: Talking about Al Gore's 2000 Presidential campaign while referencing "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" - and it makes sense!
