Loved this book and was pulled in strongly from the beginning and throughout but the end made no sense whatsoever. It’s completely implausible and frankly makes Mya/Inara look like a hypocrite for condemning Desmond for not coming forward about the garden, while supporting Sophia for not coming forward. I also don’t find their rationale for Sophia hiding the truth as being afraid her daughter would be taken away and given to the gardener. First of all, in what court of law would a child be given to a rapist/kidnapper? I just could’ve taken any other excuse besides that. Frankly I just think Sophia’s whole story should’ve been completely left out and this book would’ve been a five star read. Looking past all that, if you’re looking for something dark and emotionally challenging this is a great book.
