Son by Lois Lowry

4.0

More enjoyable than the last two books, but still not as interesting as the first.
This book was a well-rounded conclusion to [b:The Giver Quartet|17234575|The Giver Quartet|Lois Lowry|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1367018855l/17234575._SX50_.jpg|23752472] that allowed readers to see how all of the main characters we were introduced to throughout ended up. The book also introduces a new character, Claire, that adds depth to both the Community we were introduced to in [b:The Giver|3636|The Giver (The Giver, #1)|Lois Lowry|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1342493368l/3636._SY75_.jpg|2543234] and to the world Lowry created at large. All that Claire had to go through in her short life was devastating and disturbing to read about, especially learning more about the job of Birthmother from the eyes of a 14-year-old that is forced to give birth to a child with no understanding what is happening to her.
It was good to see more of Jonas within this novel, as well as seeing Gabe grown up from the baby he was in The Giver and the young child he was in The Messenger.
