Poverty, by America by Matthew Desmond

5.0

Evicted is one of my favorite books of all time, the first I recommend to anyone looking for a nonfiction read. So when I saw Desmond had another book out, I knew I needed to read it.

Where Evicted pulled at my heartstrings, Poverty gave me hope and suggested plans of how we end Poverty in America. The book discusses how poverty touches everything from education to banking to housing to reproductive health. It focuses on the history of poverty and how we ended up here. It talks about how many people don’t utilize the programs that already exist. It also talks about uniting and working together to benefit us all and end poverty.

If you haven’t read either book, I highly recommend both, but definitely start with Evicted.
