Creation Lake by Rachel Kushner

4.0

What Kushner does better than almost anyone else is casting a wide net of subjects and writing about them in insightful ways. She drops histories, subcultures, technologies throughout the book. The plot, which fizzles in a great way, is more about this detestable character and how this career has affected her and her soul. It's a bigger damning of the capitalist system than what this ramshackle commune in rural France, so well-described, can ever express.
