If I'm Being Honest by Emily Wibberley, Austin Siegemund-Broka

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars

I LOVE THESE AUTHORS!!!! This book is fucking fantastic. Masterly done young adult contemporary romance/coming-of-age.

I have to say, I LOVE that Emily and Austin really embrace an "unlikeable" heroine. They make their heroines so loveable by the end (well, for most people. I love an imperfect girl from page one babyyy!) and it always makes me tear up! (Seriously, so far we are 4 out of 4 when it comes to me crying at their YA books!)

If I'm Being Honest is a YA retelling about Taming of the Shrew and it's fan-fuckin-tastic. Cameron has her sights set on Andrew, her crush who recently joined a sports team (I can't remember what team because I retain nothing about sports). She decides now is the perfect time to act on her crush. But, it turns into a disaster when he witnesses her berate one of her fellow classmates. Andrew calls her, to Cameron's utter shock, a bitch. Cameron is devastated and decides to scheme to make Andrew think she has changed in order to get him to go out with her. She thinks she can accomplish this by apologizing (what's the cost of a few words, amiright?) to people she has wronged. She doesn't actually have plans to change. Or does she?

I can't say too much more about the plot without spoiling this book, but I will say I CRIED, I LAUGHED, I WANTED TO THROW UP FROM THE CUTENESS. Cameron is a strong character who shouldn't have to be as strong as she is. My heart hurt from her a million times over.

If you enjoy YA contemporary romance, then please give this one a read!
