A Midsummer's Equation by Keigo Higashino
5.0
please inject Higashino's work straight into my veins its so good. another absolute banger in the Detective Galileo series, A Midsummer's Equation starts off slow and builds as a regular whodunnit, with a cast of interesting characters, some hidden background mystery that is surely to make its way to the forefront, and the genius detective here to resolve everything.
but the ending. the ending!!! i was holding my breath for the last 2-3 chapters as everything unravelled, and each twist made more sense but was also more shocking. the book wraps up nicely, but i do think this is Higashino's most tragic work. there's a lot left unsaid simply due to the consequences of the way the mystery unravels, and a lot of characters hurt because of the actions of 1-2 people. another masterpiece that blew me away.
