Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent

5.0

This book took me on a dark ride. It started off strong with Sally burning her dead dad and the townspeople trying to figure out if she is crazy or not. When she finds out who her biological parents are, she decides to make changes in her life. I loved the relationships she made with the two children in the book. Especially since she missed out on being a kid herself. Watching her stand up to the nasty people in the town was pretty great too.

The backstory of Sally’s upbringing is incredibly sad, but I ate it up! Reading about her dad and brother is traumatizing. Imagining growing up thinking you have a horrific disease that can kill you if someone touches you. How messed up would you be?

What the heck happened with the ending though? I was really frustrated by it, but I still really liked this book.
