This was quite an engaging book and I found myself extending chores so I could continue listening to it. The pacing did get a bit weird in the middle but it was easy to push through still. There are some really Interesting topics explored in this about the meat and animal industry, as well as humans and society as a whole. I think the general hypocrisy and “better then thou” energy of the main character was a really intriguing and thought provoking also.
My biggest issue is that so many of the smaller topics and themes deserved to be touched on more. There were multiple times throughout the book that i found myself really interested in the theme and topic that the author started exploring only for it to be mentioned once in a short scene and a snippet of dialogue later, or Sometimes to not be brought up again at all. I wanted more about government conspiracy, human/animal testing, population control, etc.
While I was a fan of the overall ending plot, i wasn’t a huge fan of the abrupt ending and exact way it ended. I do wonder if the poignancy of the last line may have been lost in translation.
Overall, it’s a brutal, disturbing read that will absolutely make you think. And I did enjoy this book I just wish I got a bit more from it
